An algorithm is a recipe to solve a mathematical problem. It is a series of instructions leading from a given initial position to an intended target. The algorithm within social media determines what you see at what time, and at what place. You unconsciously give the instructions.
My visual quest started with the contrast between the good and the bad. The more I became detached from the content, the further I drowned in my own algorithms. I saw (and see) only what is presented to me. First I would amplify the composition and what I was interested in at the time.
I unconsciously left my substantive choices to technology. My work is a representation of my personal algorithm. Without a beginning and without an end. An infinite scroll through my (online) life and my personal popculture

In addition to my visual thesis, I have also been busy making educational videos. Under the name "TUYG" (scum), Lobke Cornelissen de Beer and I started working on a concept in which we want to give young people a glimpse into the fantastic world of the arts in a humorous, informative and personal way. In this way, we have conducted research into the ways of online teaching during the covid-19 pandemic.
