Until 1962, the academy was located in several premises on Brusselsestraat, including the refugia house of the noble abbey of St. Gerlach (Brusselsestraat 77), the birthplace of Victor de Stuers. The former Cellebroeders' Chapel (entrance Brusselsestraat 66) served as a studio space. In 1962, a new building on Brusselsestraat 75 was put into use, which formerly housed an agency of Het Limburgs Dagblad. This building was built to the design of city architect Frans Dingemans, partly in the garden of the Sint-Gerlach refuge. This building was greatly expanded around 1970 at the rear (today Herdenkingsplein). A second extension followed in 1993 by architect Wiel Arets with two sections including a footbridge.
